Birth Plan
Teale’s Natural Birth Preferences
My visual birth plan is designed to be easy to read and understood immediately upon receipt. (Reading is hard .. and in an emergency nurses and doctors don’t have time to read your birth plan).
During Labor
Key points : labor as long as possible at home, free movement, natural water rupture, Tylenol for late labor pain if needed, intermittent (if any) monitoring, dim lighting, Essential Oils (EO) / personal inhalers to easily switch moods, hypnobirthing, waterbirth/stations of labor, personal time with hubby, no students please, all captures must be on our offline device, lotus birth, bluetooth speaker & calming playlist, laughing meditation, breathing techniques.

Tools for Active Labor, Transition, and Pushing
Sight
Print Pictures of loved ones, and Affirmations to help get through the surges. Set up visualizations on mama’s laptop that sync with her music.
Feel
Bring TENS machine for soft tingle feeling, Massage Oil and Corded Wand with long extension cord, cooled gel masks & heating pad to help mama regulate her body temp or aid with natural pain relief. Energy stones to help visualize and capture auras.
Listen
Play music that is familiar and brings joy to mama, and likely baby. Have hypnobirthing scripts ready to play as needed with meditation music in the background.
Smell
Diffuse Custom Essential Oil Blend: Jasmine, Rose, & Lavender. Also have personal inhalers on hand: Peppermint and Citrus.
Taste
Bring RX Protein Bars made with dates and oats, Peppermints and Ginger mints, variety of flavored Electrolyte Packets, River Rats (rolled tortilla with peanut butter, honey and choc chips), Dark Chocolate Bars, Trail Mix, Jerky and Meat Sticks, etc.
After Delivery
Key points : delayed cord clamping (white / no more blood), immediate skin-to-skin, breastfeeding ASAP, Golden Hour privacy / time to recuperate before any non-emergency exams or testing. Baby does not leave eye-sight of mom or dad at all times. Oral Vit-K is ok, no eye ointment, no formula, no pacifiers, no hepB shot, limited visitors.

The Golden Hour
Play gentle bonding background music and facilitate mom and baby’s initial nursing interaction. Help baby latch and gauge any potential concerns. Give the couple space for bonding with their newborn before pushing any non-emergency newborn procedures.
Emergency Only
Key points : In Emergency: do NOT send Teale alone (without a support person) in ambulance!! Do not bring our baby to a space out of eyesight of Teale or her Spouse. We still prefer: dim lighting, immediate skin-to-skin, and breastfeeding, delayed cord clamping to ensure baby gets all their blood back, swab baby with their mom’s vaginal bacteria, and other ways to simulate virginial birth (in the case of a gentle c-section). Please do everything in your power to reduce trauma for both the family and newborn!
